Teaching Assistants play a critical role at Aim High – beyond the work they perform keeping the day-to-day operations going, they are leaders, role models and friends. It is also a great way to give back, improve our community and add to your resume and college applications. A sampling of position responsibilities:
– Serve as a mentor and tutor;

– Support the day to day program operations at the assigned site: morning or afternoon bus riders, in-class tutoring and student support, elective support or instruction, lunch and physical fun activities, and more;

– Saturday Program tutor;

– Bridge the link between youth and adults, providing near-peer guidance and friendship.

Aim High offers volunteer TA positions to high school age students from our host campuses as well as program graduates and students from area schools.

Paid, senior level teaching assistant positions are also awarded to individuals who have volunteered previously as a TA. TAs at this level hold leadership positions within their assigned site, supporting the day to day functions of the program and acting as peer leaders to our volunteer TA staff as well as our students. Paid TAs must be entering, currently enrolled or have graduated from a post-secondary program of study.
